Russian Bomb, 1000 kg AP, BRAB-1000
These bombs are used against targets of heavy construction. They can penetrate up to 152 millimeters (6.00 inches) of hardened armor plate and 1.78 meters (70.00 inches) of reinforced concrete.
AP bombs that are not rocket-assisted have a base fuze that is vane armed and impact-delay fired. The rocket-assisted bombs have two fuzes, a warhead fuze that is armed by setback and impact-delay fired, and an ignition-type fuze in the venturi of the rocket motor. The ignition-type fuze is armed when a pin is pulled and is fired by a mechanical timer.
The body is painted gray. The bomb has one red, one orange or yellow nose band.
