US Cartridge, 37mm Canister, M2

1572-350a

Description

The canister is used in tank weapons to discourage personnel from approaching the tank.

The canister case is made of ordinary roofing tin, or template. The filling consists of 122 steel balls, each approximately .375 inch in diameter, imbedded in a resinous material forming a matrix. A raised bead around the lower part of the case serves to seat it properly in the cartridge case.
