US Dispenser, XMC-1

1847-190

Description

The XMC-1 provided large area coverage for biological and chemical weapons.

This dispenser was composed of 24 cells, each 15.54 inches square. A single suspension lug at the top of the dispenser above the center of gravity engaged the U-2 shackle on the aircraft. To release the cells, a rotary solenoid was activated allowing the cell door and cartons to fall free. Final models were planned to have electric heaters to maintain a constant temperature control. There was a fiberglass or steel carton closure with timer and opening mechanism.

The dispenser was designed for use with E120R1, E120R2, E132 cube, E134, and Flettner bomblets.
